ART & MONEY

FREJA HALLBERG

Art and Money föreställningsbild

An impossible romance between art and money.
An intimate and absurd duet of codependency / addiction, freedom and the silent brutality in needing what you can’t survive with.
A show that’s both philosophical and deeply physical – created by Freja Hallberg together with two of the two most distinctive actors from Serbia.

Two women on stage: Art and Money.
Dressed in overdimensioned gala dresses from an award they once got – dresses they haven’t been able to get out of since then.

They fight, joke, whisper, support each other, they tease, they shine, and they break apart. They try to understand one another and they fail. They try to live without one another and they fail even more.
This is a duet jumping between softness and aggression, power and greed, control and collapse.

Art and money is a continuation of Freja Hallbergs artistic study of relations that burn and impact.here in a stripped down, raw and rhythmical form that merge the playful with the merciless. The show was developed in Belgrade during a time when the Serbian national theatre shut down. This gave the show an unsuspected political turn and another dimension of seriousness.

This is a story of art and money, but also about us all: how we value our time, our passion, our work and our lives. How we compromise. How we hold on. How we give in. And how to continue on – despite everything.
