How to survive a chronic bear attack

The performance is based on over 15 years of collecting material in any form that touches the Ursus Actros aka the Swedish brown bear. The project of collecting bear material is ongoing like a chronic disease and that’s why this performance is part of an endless work in process. 

Amanda Ferm is an artist based in Gothenburg. Ferm works primarily with pencil on paper and follows her drawing with out any form av censur as it grows on the paper. The drawings often develops into performance, fanzines or textile works. In her practice Amanda often uses her self as an object to question and push subjects as the power hierarchy through humor, satire and dirty thoughts, always with hard loud music playing in the background.

The Fringe

In this early stage work-in-progress, The Fringe, artist Afrang Nordlöf Malekian and choreographer Sepideh Khodarahmi play with a series of sculptures — A Lion’s Tail. These lion tails are constructed from decorative materials traditionally associated with wealth, yet they also express a sense of kitsch.

In the performance, Afrang and Sepideh wear the tails as they are haunted by a flash—the sun. The Fringe explores adornment and capture, drawing from nationalistic lion sculptures and celestial bodies with human faces
